the intake system ,does this mean it's a valve cover or head gasket ,or can it still be an intake manifold gasket ?88 buick century 2.8 v6, If motor oil is leaking on top of the tranny,and there is no oil in?
i own shop,and it can either be a intake gasket or a valve cover gasket ,either one will blow back on the transmission,what i usually do is wipe those off really good,and check it while its running to see exactly where its coming from it works out better that way ,you may have to do the same thing to know exactly where its leaking from,good luck i hope this helps.88 buick century 2.8 v6, If motor oil is leaking on top of the tranny,and there is no oil in?

If it's a bad leak, it is probably the oil pump drive on top of block. They have an o-ring that gets brittle when car has alot of miles and start leaking. It is not a giant job, but somewhat involved. I usually do the intake gasket at same time to eliminate that leak too.
I would concentrate on the valve cover gaskets. If they have never been off, GM seals them only with silicone.





Go %26amp; buy a cheap hand mirror.





Have a trouble light handy.





1.Start the engine.





2. Inspect the valve covers at the head.





3. The area you can't see, insert the mirror %26amp; shine the light into the mirror.





4. Usually if it's leaking that bad, you will see a streak where the oil has washed the dirt off.





5. Remove the rocker covers %26amp; scrape the oil sealer off.





6. Clean the head %26amp; the matching surface on the rocker cover with lacquer thinner.





7. Apply the new gasket %26amp; lightly snug tight. [if the gasket is cork, over tightening will damage the gasket]





8. Check the bolts after it's been run for a while
