ZDDP is something that they've started taking out of oil for sometime now for emmission purposes. ZDDP is also something that hydrualic flat tappet cams need to maintain proper turning motion. not saying that flat tappets can't live without it, but it ensures that they are lubed correctly.
now, good thing for you is that chevy stoped using flat tappet cams in 1985. so 1986 was the first year of the still-in-use hydrualic roller camshaft. your motor should be a 1 piece rear main seal, and have a roller cam if it is a stock step-up. so continue using std oil, and you'll be fine!
