Is pennzoil platinum a true synthetic motor oil?

Yep. I've never cared to use Pennzoil but yes, platinum is synthetic. Is pennzoil platinum a true synthetic motor oil?
All I can tell you from what I've read from different sites is that there are very few true synthetics out there and pennzoil is not one of them. I couldn't find much on Castrol Edge but true synthetics seem to be Mobile 1 (full synthetic line), AMSOIL, and Royal Purple. Again, these are popular beliefs that the above three are true synthetics but I doubt anybody has really heard from a petroleum engineer from any of the manufacturers. All I can say is do your own research and see where pennzoil stands in the true sythetic oil market.

And whoever said group IIIs are synthetic, read up on it because it is not a true synthetic. Is pennzoil platinum a true synthetic motor oil?
Yes.

Basestock is Group III developed from Shell XHVI.

Platinum has looked great in almost every engine type. I recommend it without hesitation. A great product, and a better value than Mobil One.
