Consumer reports did a very exhaustive test of all types of oils, and determined that regular oil will lube and protect your engine just as well as synthetic for one fourth the cost.

I remember from factory training that alot of the oil that is branded under like wal-mart or napa is the exact same oil that you buy sitting next to it on the shelf for a couple dollars more. The instructor told us that they don't change production run, just the bottles they are putting it in. The best would be synthetic. But the most important thing is that you regularly change your oil. I know that I personally have a preferred brand, but I would guess that its because its the brand my father used when he had a shop. Now that I have my own shop I use whatever I can buy by the pallet at costco. What is the best motor oil to buy?
that depends on the engine in question period. i recommend synthetic/ synblends for a lot of things. look at your manual to see what viscosity to use. i recommend ashland oil(valvoline/napa) and mobil one synthetic for most stuff. id use rotella for most any diesel.
MOBIL 1.I don't know why I like it best, but I do.. I have driven my 1996 Honda Accord EX with a 5-speed manual for 560,000 miles. And it still runs strong. I am thinking about tradeing it in for a new model with about 4,000,000 miles or less.
Hi
Depends where you live. All of the brand names are good. What is needed in my area is 5w40 because I`m in canada. But in warm areas 10w30 is about the best.
Valvoline.
Before someone say's Pennzoil, Never use Pennzoil.
valvoline.i always use that and havent any complaints
AMSOIL
Castrol GTX Synthetic
it is what i have in mine and it has been running great
