Motor oil question about car?

If I put oil in my car, can I use just any W-D-40 motor oil from Walmart? Or are there different types for different types of cars/trucks?Motor oil question about car?
you mean 40 weight don,t you? wd-40 is a spray. sure you can but get 10w40. not just straight 40 weight. it will be too heavy for winter. i would recommend using 10w30 to you for your car.Motor oil question about car?
Check you car's owners Manual. Some of the smaller cars require that you use 5w 10 or 5w 20 and to use anything other than that ';VOIDS'; your cars warranty. Smaller engines rev faster and require an oil with a lower viscosity. Always use a Brand Named motor oil, Pennzoil or Castrol, etc and if you are changing from a synthetic motor oil to a Mineral based oil, please remember to flush your engine first. Ernest Hinton will interject this message, If you are driving a Nissan Product including Infiniti Models, Please have your engine flushed once a year. Infiniti %26amp; Nissan Products tend to Sludge unlike Toyota %26amp; Honda..This is from Personal experience..
WD40?!?!?!?!?!? are you crazy wd40 is not engine oil its a lube for tools and hinges and stuff like that NOT FOR ENGINES!!! and there are many different types of ENGINE OIL (10 w 30) is your most common for car or small truck, Diesel require a thicker oil (15w30) sometimes 20w30 and for rear end oil they use(80w90)pretty thick stuff
LOL...no...noooo.... do not use WD40. That's a lubricant, not an oil.

First, check your cars owners manual for motor oil information. It will give you specific oil types to use.

The oil cap on your engine might tell you the oil viscosity or grade.

Since you didn't give us any info on your car (make, model, year, engine type, mileage, etc), we can't give you exact recommendations. Next time you want car advice, provide a ton of info so we know what kind of car you have.

If nothing else, most modern cars use 5W-30 or something very close to that. You can use any name brand motor oil you want, they are all good products.

Walmart has a huge selection of oil at great prices. I'm sure you know the brand names so pick one you like in a 5W-30 or maybe a 10W-30 grade and roll with it.
you mean W40 not WD 40

depends on the climate you live in (cold or hot)

but the simple answer is you can use any W40
