how much oil is lost in the recycling, is it energy intensive, and why could we not just rely on our used oil more instead of constantly producing more oil and petroleum? How is used motor oil recycled?
The idea is that as a waste product, it is to be treated as a waste. In truth, used engine oil can be easily reused. Filter it to remove contaminates, re-add the special lubricants to it, and re-sell it as an engine oil. This is done in some places. Some shops use it as a free heating fuel source. Some places it blend it with fuel oil stocks and sell it as home heating fuel. We are a wasteful society, and we tend to not reuse things that we could reuse as opposed to making more of it.How is used motor oil recycled?
not as much as could be or should be some places limit how much they will take
while it could be put right back into a refinery with crude oil, unfortunatly, most motor oil is burned to make electricty.
