What kind of motor oil should i use 4 my cavalier 2.2 1997 in summer & winter 2 pls!?? =D?

i just want 2 know what kind of oil should use in winter %26amp; summer!?What kind of motor oil should i use 4 my cavalier 2.2 1997 in summer %26amp; winter 2 pls!?? =D?
I use 5w30 all year round. This is what your car calls for anyway. There is no need to spend $3.00 or $4.00 dollars a quart for oil. You can go to wal-mart and buy the (Super Tech 5w30) it is very good oil and is not over priced. What kind of motor oil should i use 4 my cavalier 2.2 1997 in summer %26amp; winter 2 pls!?? =D?
ok you have a 97 cavalier with that year i am gonna believe you have more than 80,000 miles on it. i would suggest 10w30 all year round rather then switching back and forth to 5w30.5w30 is thinner than 1030 so what happens is when you shut the car off the oil will seep to the pan faster and not leave a coating on the pistons therefore causing a metal friction in in which in time will cause you to blow the rings or a head gasket giving you more headache. 10w30 is thicker giving you that coating you need so have a good start up. i hope this helps you
what ever you normally use... just go with a little lower weight in the winter, here it can hit 40 or so below, i like to use 5w in the winter and 10w in the winter, the thinner oil will help out with cold starts
it depends on where you live and the temperatures in summer and winter there. a 5-30 or 10-30 will work for most applications 0F-100F.
You are supposed to use 5W30 engine oil for all temperature ranges.
5W30
