The car is a 2000 toyota....After prior oil changes,I would check it next day or 2 days later and it would be light brown or even light greenish ! this time it's dark brown(like it hasn't been replaced)! also it's not near full mark..it's exacltly halfway between F and E on dipstick !does that sound right or a problem? appreciate inputWhat does a recently changed(2 days ago) 5W30 motor oil( valvoline I think) look like?mine is dark brown !!?
As the owner of lube shops, I thini\k the 2 most likely scenarios are: 1) Not all the old oil was drained before new oil was added. 2) The oil filter wasn't changed. Or 3) You were overdue on the previous oil change and the condition of that oil was so bad that it contaminated the new oil.
Between ';Add'; and ';Full'; is fine. we usually fill it up just a tad below ';F';, but some places aren't as careful. It doesn't hurt the motor though because the level is still within spec. What does a recently changed(2 days ago) 5W30 motor oil( valvoline I think) look like?mine is dark brown !!?
BTW, greenish oil is usually Quaker State. They add a green dye to their oil. Report Abuse
Or......the shop that said they changed your oil......didn't.
It could of just picked up some of the left over oil. Maybe it was a little low do to refilling the oil filter. How many miles do you have on the car it might have a little blow by and you might check the pvc valve it might be pushing out alittle.
