Once you use a certain brand of synthetic motor oil, do you always have to use that oil, or can you switch?

Well i used Mobil 1 synthetic for a couple of oil changes then went to Royal Purple then after talking to my buddy who has done over 150 cam changes in my type of car and he mentioned a few things that he did not care for about RP so i went back to Mobil 1 because of it, and have had no issues, as he mentioned it was fine to go back so you should be fine i see nothing that would have any disadvantages or anything that would hurt your internals going back.Once you use a certain brand of synthetic motor oil, do you always have to use that oil, or can you switch?
Depends on the make of the car. also, it depends on how long you have used that car, you may need to break in the motor with a lighter oil.

No. You can use any like synthetic. Just make sure you dont switch between synthetic and natural.
